Dear Friends of the Art Center,

At this beginning of a new year I encourage you to make time for your creative and artistic

selves. Look over the schedule of 2010 artists and mark your calendars, make your park reservations and join us for one or more of this year's great art classes. Come soon and come aften and don't forget to bring your friends. What better gift to give than a shared day painting in this wonderful place. Laughter and adventure is always better shared with friends.

I hope to see all of you this coming year for at least one art vacation day between Donna Naes' Travel Journaling experience and the pleasure of participating in Raymond Otis's Plein Air Autumn fest.

Another event to mark on your calendars is the annual Yosemite Renaissance XXV Competition which will host an Opening reception and Awards presentation Friday, February 26, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Yosemite Museum Gallery. Indulge yourself, experience the always changing, and intriguing imagery that is fostered by the relationship between the artist and the play of light and shadow across this valley and it's cliffs and meadows, flora and fauna. If you are unable to make it for the reception, the exhibit will be open from February 27th through May 2nd from 10Am- 12 Noon and 1Pm-4Pm daily.

Looking at Next Year

This year at the Art and Education Center went by quickly as all good years do. We were fortunate that despite budgetary constrictions we were able to stay open and once again offer Yosemite visitors the opportunity to experience this beautiful place through the creation of original art with the help of dedicated and enthusiastic guest artists.
A special thanks to Mary Jane Johnson who stepped in as a volunteer to make it possible for Yosemite Association to offer the season's classes and keep the supply store open. thankyou many times over and you have a earned a well deserved rest and our fervent gratitude.
Looking ahead to next year, it is time to work on next year's schedule. To this end I am posting a link to the guest artist description and application. Anyone interested in teaching or any of you who may know someone who would be interested in being a guest instructor next year please fill out the application and return it to me by email or regular mail as soon as possible.
Those of you looking to plan for next year's art classes, the schedule will be posted on this blog site and the Yosemite Association webpage as soon as is possible.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you next year and until then wish you many happy days of painting.

June is here and so are the mosquitos. When you come to paint be sure and pack for changeable weather, bug spray for mosquitoes and bring a spirit of adventure. Fealing Lin, Pam Pederson, and Roger Folk have come and gone. John McClary is here this week for a sketching and watercolor class. The season seems to fly by. Everyone comes and goes so quickly.
Yosemite Association hopes you can fit some of the classes into your visit to Yosemite and we
will see you then.

We Are Open!

May is finally here and the first art class of this 2009 season begins tomorrow. Hurray!
Fealing Lin will be the first of the season with her always enjoyable watercolor workshop.
I personally plan to be here on Thursday and know that this class has been eagerly anticipated by all of us. I will try to take a few pictures and put them up so those of you who can not be here can at least enjoy her class virtually and we hope to see you here soon. This year the class schedule has been reduced so be aware that the art workshops will be running Wednesday through Saturday at the usual time of 10 till 2. The art supply store will be open those days only from 9:30-12 and 1-4. Sunday the store will be open only for the children's craft class fo an
hour in the afternoon. Happy painting to all.
